The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 16%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, inactive yeast imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 14%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Germany (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Brazil (X tons) were the main suppliers of inactive yeast imports to France, with a combined 58% share of total imports. Poland, Denmark, Spain, Thailand, Italy, Russia, the UK, Estonia, the United States and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 35%.

The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 25%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
