Exports by Country
Switzerland (X tons) was the main destination for inulin exports from France, with a 47% share of total exports. Moreover, inulin exports to Switzerland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Turkey (X tons), twofold. The United States (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with an 8.7% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Switzerland totaled +128.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (-60.5% per year) and the United States (+4.9% per year).
In value terms, Switzerland ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for inulin exports from France, comprising 38% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by the United States, with a 13% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value to Switzerland totaled +110.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Turkey (-59.4% per year) and the United States (+13.4% per year).

The average inulin export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 32% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 33% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into France
In 2021, approx. X tons of inulin were imported into France; with a decrease of -3.4% on the previous year. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -5.7% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -3.5% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 25% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest inulin supplier to France, with a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, inulin imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (X tons), fourfold.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Belgium stood at +3.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Spain (+69.7% per year) and the Netherlands (+5.0% per year).
In value terms, Belgium ($X) constituted the largest supplier of inulin to France, comprising 65% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 16% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Belgium totaled +2.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+5.9% per year) and Spain (+63.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average inulin import price amounted to $X per ton, growing by 7.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a slight reduction. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for Spain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+0.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
