As a result, the exports attained the peak of X square meters. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, linoleum exports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, faced a abrupt contraction. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Belgium (X square meters) was the main destination for linoleum exports from France, accounting for a 31% share of total exports. Moreover, linoleum exports to Belgium exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (X square meters), twofold. The UK (X square meters) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to Belgium totaled +6.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (-8.8% per year) and the UK (-13.8% per year).
In value terms, Belgium ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Germany ($X) constituted the largest markets for linoleum exported from France worldwide, together accounting for 51% of total exports. These countries were followed by the UK, Spain, Ireland, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, Poland, Austria and Turkey, which together accounted for a further 37%.
Among the main countries of destination, Ireland, with a CAGR of +77.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the average linoleum export price amounted to $X per square meter, surging by 8.4% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 57% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per square meter in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per square meter), while the average price for exports to Italy ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Linoleum Imports
Imports into France
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of linoleum increased by 17% to X square meters in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a abrupt shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 35%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X square meters in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, linoleum imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep reduction. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the Netherlands (X square meters) constituted the largest linoleum supplier to France, accounting for a 47% share of total imports. Moreover, linoleum imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X square meters), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Italy (X square meters), with a 20% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from the Netherlands amounted to -8.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+42.5% per year) and Italy (-15.9% per year).
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest supplier of linoleum to France, comprising 50% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Italy ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 17% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from the Netherlands stood at -7.3%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Italy (-14.2% per year) and Belgium (+42.5% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average linoleum import price stood at $X per square meter in 2021, picking up by 3.5% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per square meter in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Germany ($X per square meter) and the Netherlands ($X per square meter), while the price for Belgium ($X per square meter) and Italy ($X per square meter) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Hungary (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
