The French mattress market shrank markedly to $X in 2022, waning by -17.7% against the previous year. Overall, consumption recorded a noticeable descent. Mattress consumption peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

Switzerland (X units) was the main destination for mattress exports from France, with a 26% share of total exports. Moreover, mattress exports to Switzerland exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Germany (X units), twofold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Spain (X units), with an 8.7% share.

In value terms, Switzerland ($X) remains the key foreign market for mattresses exports from France, comprising 26% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Spain, with a 9.1% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Switzerland totaled +1.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-3.9% per year) and Spain (+5.8% per year).

In 2022, the average mattress export price amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -10.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a slight slump.
