As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Japan (X tons), the United States (X tons) and Italy (X tons) were the main destinations of natural polymers exports from France, together accounting for 35% of total exports. These countries were followed by Germany, the UK, China, Denmark, Brazil, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Indonesia and India, which together accounted for a further 43%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +9.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In general, export price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, natural polymers export price increased by +51.2% against 2015 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 13% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+12.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into France
After six years of growth, supplies from abroad of natural and modified natural polymers in primary forms decreased by -6.6% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 87% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at X tons in 2020, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, natural polymers imports totaled $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -1.0% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 18%. Imports peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Italy (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of natural polymers to France, accounting for a 56% share of total imports. Moreover, natural polymers imports from Italy exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), fivefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Austria (X tons), with an 11% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Italy amounted to +34.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+16.2% per year) and Austria (+14.2% per year).
In value terms, Italy ($X) constituted the largest supplier of natural and modified natural polymers in primary forms to France, comprising 25% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from Italy totaled +27.9%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: China (+4.1% per year) and the Netherlands (+23.9% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The average natural polymers import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 7.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the average import price increased by 41% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
