The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the average export price increased by 37% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

Imports into France
Sweet potato imports into France dropped modestly to X tons in 2021, waning by -4.3% on 2020. Overall, imports, however, recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 64%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, sweet potato imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 37%. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Spain (X tons), the Netherlands (X tons) and Portugal (X tons) were the main suppliers of sweet potato imports to France, with a combined 79% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Portugal (with a CAGR of +63.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Spain ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Portugal ($X) constituted the largest sweet potato suppliers to France, with a combined 81% share of total imports.
The Netherlands, with a CAGR of +59.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average sweet potato import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 12% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for Portugal ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
