In 2021, the French wood tool market was finally on the rise to reach $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, total exports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Italy (X tons), Germany (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main destinations of wood tool exports from France, together accounting for 56% of total exports. These countries were followed by Belgium, Spain, the UK, Gabon, Turkey, Portugal, Poland and French Polynesia, which together accounted for a further 29%.

The average wood tool export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 8.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a noticeable slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 41%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to French Polynesia (+8.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, approx. X tons of tools of wood were imported into France; increasing by 6.4% on the previous year's figure. Over the period under review, imports saw a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 45% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, wood tool imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +29.9% against 2018 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of wood tool to France, with a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, wood tool imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Portugal (X tons), fourfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Italy (X tons), with a 4.1% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Poland totaled +77.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Portugal (+7.8% per year) and Italy (+0.9% per year).
In value terms, the largest wood tool suppliers to France were Poland ($X), Portugal ($X) and Germany ($X), with a combined 61% share of total imports. Italy, China, Belgium, Slovakia, Spain, Ukraine, Sri Lanka, Hungary and Brazil lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 32%.

In 2021, the average wood tool import price amounted to $X per ton, rising by 33% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible decrease. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($X per ton), while the price for Hungary ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
