Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, turkey meat exports declined to $X in 2022. Overall, exports recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 6.3%. The exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Belgium (X tons), Germany (X tons) and Benin (X tons) were the main destinations of turkey meat exports from France, together comprising 56% of total exports. Spain, the Netherlands, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Gabon, the UK and Ghana lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Netherlands (with a CAGR of +4.0%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Belgium ($X) remains the key foreign market for turkey meat exports from France, comprising 34% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Germany ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 7.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value to Belgium stood at -3.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Germany (-4.3% per year) and the Netherlands (+7.3% per year).

In 2022, the average turkey meat export price amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the average export price increased by 30%. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Greece ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Gabon ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+14.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into France
For the third year in a row, France recorded growth in overseas purchases of turkey meat, which increased by 5.5% to X tons in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 9.7% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, turkey meat imports surged to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Imports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Germany (X tons), Poland (X tons) and Spain (X tons) were the main suppliers of turkey meat imports to France, with a combined 58% share of total imports. Italy, the UK, Belgium and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +10.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
