Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +61.3% against 2020 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The United States (X litres), Germany (X litres) and Spain (X litres) were the main destinations of whisky exports from France, together comprising 24% of total exports. Lithuania, the United Arab Emirates, the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan (Chinese), Italy, Japan and Latvia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 36%.

Belgium, Singapore, Poland, Spain, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Lithuania, Taiwan (Chinese) and Latvia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.
Latvia, with a CAGR of +23.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average whisky export price amounted to $X per litre, surging by 5.8% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 21%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per litre), while the average price for exports to Lithuania ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+8.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, approx. X litres of whisky were imported into France; increasing by 3.7% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. In 2022, the UK (X litres) constituted the largest supplier of whisky to France, accounting for a 77% share of total imports. Moreover, whisky imports from the UK exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X litres), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Ireland (X litres), with a 4.5% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume from the UK stood at -2.2%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (+0.6% per year) and Ireland (+8.9% per year).
In value terms, the UK ($X) constituted the largest supplier of whisky to France, comprising 69% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by the United States ($X), with a 9% share of total imports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 4.8% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value from the UK totaled -1.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the United States (-2.2% per year) and Belgium (+49.2% per year).

In 2022, the average whisky import price amounted to $X per litre, with an increase of 3.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, whisky import price increased by +25.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 65%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per litre. From 2019 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per litre), while the price for the UK ($X per litre) was amongst the lowest.
