The United Arab Emirates dominates exports structure, accounting for X tons, which was approx. 89% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons), mixing up a 6.8% share of total exports. Bahrain (X tons) took a relatively small share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to acid and mordant dye exports from the United Arab Emirates stood at +47.8%. The export price in GCC stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 28% against the previous year. In general, the export price enjoyed a modest increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 77% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, among the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per ton), while Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+1.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in GCC

Acid and mordant dye imports surged to X tons in 2021, with an increase of 22% compared with 2020. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 67%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, acid and mordant dye imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates dominates imports structure, finishing at X tons, which was near 78% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Qatar (X tons), committing a 9.6% share of total imports. The following importers - Kuwait (X tons), Oman (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) - each accounted for a 12% share of total imports.

Imports into the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Oman (+19.6%) and Qatar (+14.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in GCC, with a CAGR of +19.6% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Kuwait (-2.9%) and Bahrain (-21.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait increased by +54, +8.3, +3.8 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported acid and mordant dyes and preparations based thereon in GCC, comprising 76% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Qatar ($X), with a 12% share of total imports. It was followed by Bahrain, with a 7.5% share.
