In value terms, ammonium chloride exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports enjoyed a noticeable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 154%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates prevails in exports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 94% of total exports in 2021. Kuwait (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ammonium chloride exports, with a CAGR of +11.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kuwait (+11.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-9.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The United Arab Emirates (+10 p.p.) and Kuwait (+2.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Saudi Arabia saw its share reduced by -10.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest ammonium chloride supplier in GCC, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kuwait ($X), with a 9.7% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates stood at +3.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kuwait (+44.0% per year) and Saudi Arabia (-6.3% per year).

From 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (+29.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2021, approx. X tons of ammonium chloride were imported in GCC; picking up by 26% on the previous year. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 106% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, ammonium chloride imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 87%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates represented the main importer of ammonium chloride in GCC, with the volume of imports resulting at X tons, which was near 69% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Oman (X tons), comprising a 28% share of total imports. Kuwait (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of ammonium chloride. At the same time, Oman (+7.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in GCC, with a CAGR of +7.0% from 2012-2021. Kuwait experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Oman (+14 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest ammonium chloride importing markets in GCC were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Oman ($X) and Kuwait ($X), together comprising 97% of total imports.

Oman, with a CAGR of +6.3%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, growing by 12% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
