Imports in GCC

Beet-pulp and bagasse imports expanded markedly to X tons in 2022, picking up by 5.3% compared with 2021. Over the period under review, imports saw prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 228% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, beet-pulp and bagasse imports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. In general, imports posted a strong expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 237%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Saudi Arabia dominates imports structure, accounting for X tons, which was near 87% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), committing a 5.3% share of total imports. Qatar (X tons) and Oman (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to beet-pulp and bagasse imports into Saudi Arabia stood at +10.5%. At the same time, Oman (+11.5%), the United Arab Emirates (+7.0%) and Qatar (+2.0%) displayed positive paces of growth.
