From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates amounted to +12.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Oman (+59.0% per year) and Bahrain (-15.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, reducing by -6.6% against the previous year. Overall, the export price saw a perceptible decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahrain (+2.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, supplies from abroad of bituminous mixtures increased by 26% to X tons, rising for the third consecutive year after five years of decline. In general, imports showed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 1,128% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the near future.

In value terms, bituminous mixtures imports reduced modestly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 996% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, leveling off in the following year.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates dominates imports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 93% of total imports in 2021. The following importers - Qatar (X tons) and Oman (X tons) - together made up 7.1% of total imports.

The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the bituminous mixtures imports, with a CAGR of +66.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Qatar (+7.2%) and Oman (+3.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. The United Arab Emirates (+76 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Qatar and Oman saw its share reduced by -33.1% and -35.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported bituminous mixtures in GCC, comprising 90% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Qatar ($X), with a 6.7% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates amounted to +47.2%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Qatar (-3.8% per year) and Oman (-5.2% per year).

In 2021, the import price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -21.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 37% against the previous year.
