The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 882%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, brewing dregs imports surged to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 876% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the three major importers of brewing or distilling dregs and waste, namely the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Kuwait (X tons) took a 7.6% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Bahrain (5.6%).

Based on 2022 figures, brewing dregs import price increased by +40.8% against 2017 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the import price increased by 82% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per ton), while Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
