Imports in GCC
In 2022, the amount of buttermilk and buttermilk powder imported in GCC dropped to X tons, with a decrease of -12% on the previous year's figure. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, buttermilk and buttermilk powder imports shrank modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. Among the main importing countries, Oman, with a CAGR of +1.8%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 9.3% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a mild setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 27%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
