In 2022, shipments abroad of ceramic tiles decreased by -4.7% to X square meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. From 2015 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X square meters) was the main exporter of ceramic tiles, comprising 74% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X square meters) and Oman (X square meters), together comprising a 26% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to ceramic tile exports from the United Arab Emirates stood at -4.9%. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+8.9%) and Oman (+1.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. In 2022, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per square meter, approximately equating the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 24%. The level of export peaked at $X per square meter in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per square meter), while Saudi Arabia ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in GCC
Ceramic tile imports reduced slightly to X square meters in 2022, leveling off at 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X square meters. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, ceramic tile imports stood at $X in 2022. In general, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Saudi Arabia (X square meters), distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X square meters), Oman (X square meters), Kuwait (X square meters), Qatar (X square meters) and Bahrain (X square meters) were the major importers of ceramic tiles, together committing 100% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Oman (with a CAGR of +5.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Saudi Arabia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ceramic tiles in GCC, comprising 52% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the United Arab Emirates ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Qatar, with a 7.8% share.
