Totaliser Market Size in GCC

The GCC totaliser market soared to $X in 2021, jumping by 69% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, recorded a mild contraction. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Totaliser Production in GCC

In value terms, totaliser production reduced to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, recorded a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the production volume increased by 73%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2021, production growth failed to regain momentum.

After two years of growth, shipments abroad of continuous and discontinuous totalisers decreased by -79.7% to X units in 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 418% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X units in 2020, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

In value terms, totaliser exports dropped sharply to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a moderate increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 386%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then fell markedly in the following year.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the one major exporters of continuous and discontinuous totalisers, namely the United Arab Emirates, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the continuous and discontinuous totalisers exports, with a CAGR of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021. The shares of the largest exporters remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) also remains the largest totaliser supplier in GCC.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates totaled +3.4%.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -40.5% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 167%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.

From 2012 to 2021, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United Arab Emirates amounted to +1.0% per year.

Totaliser Imports

Imports in GCC

Totaliser imports soared to X units in 2021, picking up by 182% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 309%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, totaliser imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 566%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates dominates imports structure, amounting to X units, which was near 76% of total imports in 2021. Bahrain (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 9.4% share, followed by Oman (8.1%) and Kuwait (6%).

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to totaliser imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at -4.7%. At the same time, Kuwait (+21.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in GCC, with a CAGR of +21.5% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Bahrain (-5.0%) and Oman (-5.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+5.5 p.p.) and Kuwait (+5.4 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported continuous and discontinuous totalisers in GCC, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kuwait ($X), with a 22% share of total imports. It was followed by Oman, with a 19% share.

In the United Arab Emirates, totaliser imports shrank by an average annual rate of -6.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kuwait (+24.4% per year) and Oman (-1.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in GCC amounted to $X per unit, declining by -42.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price saw a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 63% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
