In 2021, overseas shipments of dental cements and bone reconstruction cements increased by 5.6% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 224%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates dominates exports structure, reaching X tons, which was near 97% of total exports in 2021. Kuwait (X kg) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +8.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kuwait (+11.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in GCC, with a CAGR of +11.8% from 2012-2021. The United Arab Emirates (+4.1 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest medical reconstruction cements supplier in GCC, comprising 90% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kuwait ($X), with a 7% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates amounted to +5.0%.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, surging by 73% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, saw a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 135% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates totaled $X per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (+4.7%).

Imports in GCC
In 2021, the amount of dental cements and bone reconstruction cements imported in GCC skyrocketed to X tons, with an increase of 79% on the previous year's figure. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, medical reconstruction cements imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) dominates imports structure, together generating 82% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Oman (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons), together committing a 15% share of total imports. Qatar (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Oman (with a CAGR of +26.5%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest medical reconstruction cements importing markets in GCC were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Kuwait ($X), with a combined 92% share of total imports. Oman and Qatar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 6%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Qatar, with a CAGR of +18.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, growing by 6.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
