In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of dentist and barber chairs, when their volume decreased by -59.6% to X units. Over the period under review, exports recorded a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 177% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, dentist or barber chair exports dropped significantly to $X in 2022. Overall, exports saw a deep reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 107%. In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest dentist or barber chair supplier in GCC, comprising 74% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Oman ($X), with a 14% share of total exports.

In the United Arab Emirates, dentist or barber chair exports declined by an average annual rate of -12.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Oman (+16.7% per year) and Bahrain (-1.1% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per unit, jumping by 52% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw moderate growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 an increase of 93% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Oman ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+7.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of dentist and barber chairs, when their volume increased by 19% to X units. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 34% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, dentist or barber chair imports fell to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 36% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X units) and Saudi Arabia (X units) represented roughly 71% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Kuwait (X units), Qatar (X units), Bahrain (X units) and Oman (X units), together creating a 29% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Kuwait (with a CAGR of +3.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Kuwait ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 85% share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Kuwait, with a CAGR of +7.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in GCC amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -24.6% against the previous year. Import price indicated a mild increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, dentist or barber chair import price increased by +24.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per unit), while Oman ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
