The United Arab Emirates was the key exporting country with an export of about X tons, which accounted for 83% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Oman (X tons), committing a 14% share of total exports. The following exporters - Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) - each accounted for a 3.2% share of total exports.

The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of eye make-up preparations. At the same time, Oman (+30.6%), Bahrain (+11.9%) and Saudi Arabia (+8.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in GCC, with a CAGR of +30.6% from 2012-2022. Oman (+12 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -14.2% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest eye make-up preparations supplier in GCC, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Oman ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 2.7% share.

In the United Arab Emirates, eye make-up preparations exports increased at an average annual rate of +8.9% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Oman (+24.9% per year) and Saudi Arabia (+14.0% per year).

The export price in GCC stood at $X per ton in 2022, jumping by 22% against the previous year. Export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, eye make-up preparations export price decreased by -3.4% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the export price increased by 40%. Imports in GCC

In 2022, the amount of eye make-up preparations imported in GCC declined sharply to X tons, shrinking by -37.3% compared with the previous year. Total imports indicated a modest expansion from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -45.4% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 46% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Bahrain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to eye make-up preparations imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at +5.4%. At the same time, Oman (+11.5%), Bahrain (+8.4%), Kuwait (+5.8%) and Qatar (+4.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in GCC, with a CAGR of +11.5% from 2012-2022. The United Arab Emirates (+24 p.p.), Oman (+5.9 p.p.), Kuwait (+3.5 p.p.), Qatar (+1.9 p.p.) and Bahrain (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported eye make-up preparations in GCC, comprising 63% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kuwait ($X), with a 20% share of total imports. It was followed by Qatar, with an 11% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates stood at +7.9%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kuwait (+9.5% per year) and Qatar (+5.5% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 4.4% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.1%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 13%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
