In 2021, overseas purchases of goat or kid hides and skins were finally on the rise to reach X tons after six years of decline. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a precipitous contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 168%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, goat hides and skins imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Kuwait represented the key importer of goat or kid hides and skins in GCC, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. 58% of total imports in 2021. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X kg). All these countries together held approx. 39% share of total imports. Oman (X kg) held a minor share of total imports.
