The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 542% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, metal flexible tubing exports expanded remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 582% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates represented the major exporting country with an export of around X tons, which recorded 68% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons), making up a 26% share of total exports. The following exporters - Oman (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons) - each amounted to a 5.5% share of total exports.
Exports from the United Arab Emirates decreased at an average annual rate of -3.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Saudi Arabia (+20.3%) and Bahrain (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Saudi Arabia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in GCC, with a CAGR of +20.3% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Oman (-15.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Saudi Arabia (+22 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Oman and the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -7.8% and -13.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest metal flexible tubing supplier in GCC, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by Oman, with a 7.7% share.
In the United Arab Emirates, metal flexible tubing exports expanded at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Saudi Arabia (+20.8% per year) and Oman (+9.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, growing by 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 104%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per ton), while Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+28.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in GCC
In 2021, the amount of iron or steel flexible tubing imported in GCC surged to X tons, with an increase of 94% compared with the previous year. In general, imports posted measured growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when imports increased by 99% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, metal flexible tubing imports surged to $X in 2021. Overall, imports recorded a prominent expansion. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Saudi Arabia (X tons) represented the key importer of iron or steel flexible tubing, committing 61% of total imports. The United Arab Emirates (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Qatar (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 37% share of total imports. Oman (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
Saudi Arabia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the iron or steel flexible tubing imports, with a CAGR of +10.3% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (+2.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Qatar experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +15.0%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in GCC stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Import price indicated a noticeable increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 96%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
