From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Saudi Arabia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022.

Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +84.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review.

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 23% against the previous year. Overall, the export price posted resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 205%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates stood at $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+32.3%).

Imports in GCC

In 2022, imports of jute and jute-like fibers in GCC soared to X tons, rising by 97% against the previous year. Overall, imports, however, recorded a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 611% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, jute and jute-like fibers imports surged to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 1,411%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates represented the main importer of jute and jute-like fibers in GCC, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was near 61% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X tons), comprising a 33% share of total imports. The following importers - Oman (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) - each recorded a 4.3% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of -4.3%), while imports for the other leaders experienced a decline in the imports figures.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported jute and jute-like fibers in GCC, comprising 78% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with an 18% share of total imports. It was followed by Oman, with a 1.8% share.

In the United Arab Emirates, jute and jute-like fibers imports increased at an average annual rate of +10.5% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Saudi Arabia (-20.0% per year) and Oman (-10.4% per year).
