Oman was the main exporter of liquid or compressed air and distilled or conductivity water in GCC, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was approx. 64% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X tons), comprising a 29% share of total exports. Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Kuwait (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Oman was also the fastest-growing in terms of the liquid or compressed air and distilled or conductivity water exports, with a CAGR of +28.7% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Kuwait (+9.4%) and the United Arab Emirates (+4.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-12.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Oman, with a CAGR of +49.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 11% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by 82%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, liquid air and distilled water imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a precipitous decline.
