Total imports indicated slight growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +42.4% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 63%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, grinding machine imports dropped slightly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a mild slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 20%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X units) represented the key importer of machines having individual functions, for mixing, kneading, crushing or grinding, comprising 68% of total imports. Oman (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Qatar (X units). All these countries together took near 25% share of total imports. Bahrain (X units) and Kuwait (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
