As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, mattress support exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, exports recorded a resilient increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 92%. The United Arab Emirates represented the main exporter of mattress supports in GCC, with the volume of exports accounting for X units, which was near 60% of total exports in 2021. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Total imports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +130.8% against 2016 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates prevails in imports structure, finishing at X units, which was near 83% of total imports in 2021. Qatar (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 5% share, followed by Kuwait (4.8%). Bahrain (X units) and Oman (X units) took a little share of total imports.

The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the mattress supports imports, with a CAGR of +14.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Bahrain (+6.0%) and Kuwait (+2.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Oman (-4.0%) and Qatar (-12.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The United Arab Emirates (+36 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Kuwait, Oman and Qatar saw its share reduced by -2.6%, -4.9% and -27.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates amounted to +2.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Bahrain (+3.7% per year) and Qatar (-9.9% per year).

The import price in GCC stood at $X per unit in 2021, reducing by -23.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price showed a noticeable contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 23% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Bahrain ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
