In value terms, non-electrical lamp production shrank to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 103%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2016 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, non-electrical lamp exports reduced to $X in 2021. In general, exports showed a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 66%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.
Exports by Country
Oman (X units) and the United Arab Emirates (X units) prevails in exports structure, together making up 98% of total exports. Kuwait (X units) held a relatively small share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Oman (with a CAGR of +64.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-electrical lamp supplying countries in GCC were Oman ($X), the United Arab Emirates ($X) and Kuwait ($X), with a combined 100% share of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Oman, with a CAGR of +62.7%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in GCC stood at $X per unit in 2021, with a decrease of -9.9% against the previous year. Export price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, non-electrical lamp export price decreased by +1.0% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 57% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per unit), while Kuwait ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+2.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in GCC
In 2021, purchases abroad of non-electrical lamps and lighting fittings increased by 41% to X units for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt decline. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, non-electrical lamp imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a deep downturn. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates was the largest importing country with an import of about X units, which finished at 55% of total imports. Kuwait (X units) took a 20% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Oman (15%) and Qatar (7.5%). Bahrain (X units) took a minor share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-electrical lamp imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at -10.9%. At the same time, Oman (+7.4%) and Kuwait (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in GCC, with a CAGR of +7.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Bahrain (-10.8%) and Qatar (-12.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Kuwait and Oman increased by +13 and +11 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Kuwait ($X) and Qatar ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, with a combined 67% share of total imports.
Kuwait, with a CAGR of +9.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in GCC stood at $X per unit in 2021, rising by 13% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible setback. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 31%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2015 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per unit), while Oman ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (+6.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
