Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when exports increased by 171% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-electronic hydro- and hygrometers exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports posted a prominent increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 99%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

The United Arab Emirates was the largest exporting country with an export of about X units, which reached 59% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X units) and Bahrain (X units), together generating a 39% share of total exports.

The export price in GCC stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 14% against the previous year. Export price indicated a pronounced increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, non-electronic hydro- and hygrometers export price increased by +87.0% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 26%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per unit), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in GCC

In 2021, imports of non-electronic hydro-, hygro-, psychrometers in GCC declined to X units, waning by -13.5% against the year before. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 86%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, non-electronic hydro- and hygrometers imports contracted to $X in 2021. Overall, imports showed a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 with an increase of 11%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X units) was the key importer of non-electronic hydro-, hygro-, psychrometers, creating 58% of total imports. Kuwait (X units) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 26% share, followed by Oman (12%). Bahrain (X units) and Qatar (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to non-electronic hydro- and hygrometers imports into the United Arab Emirates stood at +11.3%. At the same time, Kuwait (+28.0%) and Oman (+4.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in GCC, with a CAGR of +28.0% from 2012-2021. In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported non-electronic hydro-, hygro-, psychrometers in GCC, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kuwait ($X), with an 11% share of total imports. It was followed by Oman, with a 3.7% share.

In the United Arab Emirates, non-electronic hydro- and hygrometers imports expanded at an average annual rate of +12.0% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kuwait (+20.0% per year) and Oman (+5.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in GCC stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 9.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a abrupt contraction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the import price increased by 49% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per unit), while Oman ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Qatar (+15.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
