Exports in GCC
In 2021, approx. X tons of organo-inorganic compounds (excluding organo-sulphur compounds) were exported in GCC; which is down by -8.4% compared with the previous year. Overall, exports, however, showed buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 179% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, organo-inorganic compounds exports rose rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 277%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates prevails in exports structure, reaching X tons, which was approx. 85% of total exports in 2021. Kuwait (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 7.9% share, followed by Saudi Arabia (6.3%).
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to organo-inorganic compounds exports from the United Arab Emirates stood at +14.8%. At the same time, Kuwait (+40.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Kuwait emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in GCC, with a CAGR of +40.7% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-9.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+28 p.p.) and Kuwait (+7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Saudi Arabia (-29.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest organo-inorganic compounds supplier in GCC, comprising 84% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kuwait ($X), with an 8.6% share of total exports.
In the United Arab Emirates, organo-inorganic compounds exports expanded at an average annual rate of +18.6% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Kuwait (+32.5% per year) and Saudi Arabia (-0.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 21% against the previous year. Export price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, organo-inorganic compounds export price increased by +22.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 35% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while Saudi Arabia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+10.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Organo-Inorganic Compounds Imports
Imports in GCC
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of organo-inorganic compounds (excluding organo-sulphur compounds) increased by 6.9% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a remarkable increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 135% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, organo-inorganic compounds imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 81%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2021, the United Arab Emirates (X tons) represented the major importer of organo-inorganic compounds (excluding organo-sulphur compounds), achieving 50% of total imports. Saudi Arabia (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 31% share, followed by Kuwait (7.8%), Qatar (6%) and Oman (4.7%).
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Kuwait (with a CAGR of +22.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported organo-inorganic compounds (excluding organo-sulphur compounds) in GCC, comprising 57% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 27% share of total imports. It was followed by Qatar, with a 5.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates totaled +16.8%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Saudi Arabia (+1.4% per year) and Qatar (-5.3% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in GCC stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 13% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a slight decrease. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Kuwait ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
