Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates dominates exports structure, amounting to X units, which was approx. 88% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Oman (X units), mixing up a 9.2% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to plastic doors and windows exports from the United Arab Emirates stood at +16.0%. At the same time, Oman (+64.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in GCC, with a CAGR of +64.8% from 2012-2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Oman increased by +8.9 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest plastic doors and windows supplier in GCC, comprising 90% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Oman ($X), with a 6.7% share of total exports.
In the United Arab Emirates, plastic doors and windows exports increased at an average annual rate of +18.6% over the period from 2012-2022.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in GCC stood at $X per unit in 2022, which is down by -3.7% against the previous year. Export price indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, plastic doors and windows export price increased by +47.6% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the export price increased by 39%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per unit in 2021, and then dropped slightly in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Oman amounted to $X per unit.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+2.2%).
Imports of Plastic Doors, Windows And Their Frames
Imports in GCC
In 2022, purchases abroad of plastic doors, windows and their frames decreased by -16.2% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, showed a resilient increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 106% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, plastic doors and windows imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 36%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Qatar (X units) was the major importer of plastic doors, windows and their frames, generating 61% of total imports. Oman (X units) held the second position in the ranking, followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units) and Kuwait (X units). All these countries together held approx. 39% share of total imports.
Qatar was also the fastest-growing in terms of the plastic doors, windows and their frames imports, with a CAGR of +18.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Oman (+17.8%), Kuwait (+12.7%) and the United Arab Emirates (+8.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Qatar (+12 p.p.) and Oman (+3.1 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Kuwait (-2.3 p.p.) and the United Arab Emirates (-12.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Oman ($X) and Qatar ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 46% of total imports.
Oman, with a CAGR of +10.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in GCC stood at $X per unit in 2022, with an increase of 7.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 61%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per unit), while Qatar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (-1.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
