The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when exports increased by 197% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates prevails in exports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 93% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - Saudi Arabia (X units) and Oman (X units) - together made up 7.1% of total exports.

The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of plastic lavatory seats and covers. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, plastic lavatory seat imports soared to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% over the period from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates was the key importer of plastic lavatory seats and covers in GCC, with the volume of imports recording X units, which was near 70% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Kuwait (X units), Oman (X units), Qatar (X units) and Bahrain (X units), together committing a 30% share of total imports.

Imports into the United Arab Emirates increased at an average annual rate of +1.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Qatar (+5.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Qatar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in GCC, with a CAGR of +5.7% from 2012-2021. Kuwait experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Bahrain (-2.4%) and Oman (-11.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+12 p.p.) and Qatar (+2.3 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2021, the share of Oman (-13.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported plastic lavatory seats and covers in GCC, comprising 49% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Qatar ($X), with a 10% share of total imports. It was followed by Kuwait, with a 9.6% share.

In the United Arab Emirates, plastic lavatory seat imports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Qatar (+0.2% per year) and Kuwait (+2.1% per year).
