The United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the key importers of non-cellular polyethylene films, sheets, foil and strip in 2021, resulting at near 40% and 30% of total imports, respectively. Oman (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a 12% share, followed by Kuwait (10%). The following importers - Bahrain (X tons) and Qatar (X tons) - each reached an 8% share of total imports.

These countries were followed by Kuwait, Qatar and Bahrain, which together accounted for a further 17%.

Among the main importing countries, Bahrain, with a CAGR of +17.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the import price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, growing by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible shrinkage. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while Bahrain ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Qatar (+1.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
