In 2022, overseas shipments of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings were finally on the rise to reach X square meters for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 67% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X square meters. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports of failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Total exports indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports decreased by -23.9% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 66% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2022, the United Arab Emirates (X square meters) was the major exporter of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings, mixing up 71% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Saudi Arabia (X square meters) and Oman (X square meters), together making up a 29% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings exports from the United Arab Emirates stood at +6.9%. At the same time, Oman (+33.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in GCC, with a CAGR of +33.4% from 2012-2022. In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings supplier in GCC, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Saudi Arabia ($X), with a 17% share of total exports.

In the United Arab Emirates, exports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings expanded at an average annual rate of +12.5% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Saudi Arabia (-7.3% per year) and Oman (+24.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per square meter, picking up by 10% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 33% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per square meter), while Oman ($X per square meter) was amongst the lowest.

After three years of growth, overseas purchases of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings decreased by -4% to X square meters in 2022. Overall, imports, however, enjoyed prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 31%. Over the period under review, imports of attained the peak figure at X square meters in 2021, and then shrank slightly in the following year.

In value terms, imports of PVC floor, wall and ceiling coverings fell modestly to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.5% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +70.6% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 33% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates (X square meters) and Saudi Arabia (X square meters) prevails in coverings structure, together generating 81% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Qatar (X square meters) and Kuwait (X square meters), together mixing up a 15% share of total imports. Oman (X square meters) held a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Qatar (with a CAGR of +21.1%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Qatar ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 86% share of total imports.

Among the main importing countries, Qatar, with a CAGR of +15.2%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in GCC amounted to $X per square meter, surging by 1.8% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 16% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per square meter. From 2017 to 2022, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Qatar ($X per square meter) and Kuwait ($X per square meter), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per square meter) and Saudi Arabia ($X per square meter) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+0.8%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
