Overall, production, however, continues to indicate a significant decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.
Oman (X kg) remains the largest raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry producing country in GCC, comprising approx. 99% of total volume.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of volume in Oman totaled +3.9%.

Exports in GCC
After two years of growth, shipments abroad of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries decreased by -48.6% to X tons in 2022. In general, exports faced a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 154% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports shrank significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 427% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.
Exports by Country
Oman (X tons) and the United Arab Emirates (X tons) prevails in exports structure, together constituting 97% of total exports. Bahrain (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Oman (with a CAGR of +53.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry supplier in GCC, comprising 68% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Oman ($X), with a 28% share of total exports.
In the United Arab Emirates, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry exports decreased by an average annual rate of -3.8% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Oman (+92.7% per year) and Bahrain (+26.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, waning by -20.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 107%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Oman (+25.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in GCC
In 2022, overseas purchases of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries decreased by -2% to X tons for the first time since 2011, thus ending a ten-year rising trend. Overall, imports, however, posted a significant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 75% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2021, and then fell in the following year.
In value terms, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry imports fell to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 114%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
Imports by Country
The United Arab Emirates (X tons) and Saudi Arabia (X tons) were the key importers of raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cranberries in 2022, resulting at near 43% and 32% of total imports, respectively. Qatar (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Kuwait (X tons) and Bahrain (X tons). All these countries together held near 24% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the United Arab Emirates (with a CAGR of +28.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry importing markets in GCC were the United Arab Emirates ($X), Saudi Arabia ($X) and Qatar ($X), with a combined 85% share of total imports.
Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +34.5%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in GCC stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -5.3% against the previous year. Import price indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, raspberry, blackberry, blueberry, and cranberry import price increased by +17.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when the import price increased by 33% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Qatar ($X per ton) and Kuwait ($X per ton), while the United Arab Emirates ($X per ton) and Bahrain ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
