Exports in GCC
In 2021, overseas shipments of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators increased by 9.4% to X units for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year declining trend. In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 12%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2017 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, self-propelled bulldozer exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt downturn. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The United Arab Emirates represented the key exporting country with an export of about X units, which amounted to 70% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Oman (X units) and Saudi Arabia (X units), together comprising a 27% share of total exports. The following exporters - Bahrain (X units) and Kuwait (X units) - each resulted at a 3.1% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to self-propelled bulldozer exports from the United Arab Emirates stood at -8.4%. At the same time, Oman (+5.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in GCC, with a CAGR of +5.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Bahrain (-6.3%), Kuwait (-16.4%) and Saudi Arabia (-21.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Oman (+16 p.p.) and Kuwait (+1.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Saudi Arabia saw its share reduced by -17.1% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) emerged as the largest self-propelled bulldozer supplier in GCC, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Oman ($X), with a 27% share of total exports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates stood at -7.4%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Oman (-12.9% per year) and Saudi Arabia (-20.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per unit, picking up by 19% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the export price increased by 49% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per unit), while Kuwait ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Saudi Arabia (+2.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in GCC
In 2021, overseas purchases of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators were finally on the rise to reach X units after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a perceptible decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 430% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, self-propelled bulldozer imports expanded slightly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 12% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
Saudi Arabia was the major importing country with an import of around X units, which amounted to 64% of total imports. It was distantly followed by the United Arab Emirates (X units), constituting a 31% share of total imports. The following importers - Bahrain (X units) and Oman (X units) - each recorded a 3.8% share of total imports.
Saudi Arabia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of imports of self-propelled bulldozers and excavators. The United Arab Emirates (-3.3%), Bahrain (-9.4%) and Oman (-21.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Saudi Arabia (+16 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Oman saw its share reduced by -9.6% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

The second position in the ranking was held by Saudi Arabia ($X), with an 8.4% share of total imports. It was followed by Oman, with a 7.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates amounted to -6.4%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Saudi Arabia (-23.8% per year) and Oman (-22.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in GCC stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -63.5% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 166% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then dropped markedly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Oman ($X per unit), while Saudi Arabia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
