From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

The shipments of the one major exporters of video monitors, namely the United Arab Emirates, represented more than two-thirds of total export.

The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of video monitors. While the share of the United Arab Emirates (+9.5 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) also remains the largest video monitor supplier in GCC.

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per unit, declining by -16% against the previous year. Export price indicated a mild expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, video monitor export price increased by +16.0% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 40% against the previous year. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the United Arab Emirates.

In 2021, imports of video monitors in GCC skyrocketed to X units, jumping by 28% against the year before. Overall, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 40% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The United Arab Emirates dominates imports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 80% of total imports in 2021. Oman (X units) held a 6% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Kuwait (6%) and Qatar (4.8%). Bahrain (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported video monitors in GCC, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Qatar ($X), with an 8.7% share of total imports. It was followed by Kuwait, with a 4.8% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in the United Arab Emirates stood at +1.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Qatar (+6.9% per year) and Kuwait (+6.8% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in GCC amounted to $X per unit, rising by 5.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 an increase of 14% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Qatar ($X per unit), while Oman ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Kuwait (+2.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the import price figures.
