Exports in GCC

In 2021, approx. X tons of x-ray generators were exported in GCC; waning by -8.4% on the year before. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a noticeable expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 177% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, x-ray generator exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 193% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

The United Arab Emirates represented the largest exporter of x-ray generators in GCC, with the volume of exports accounting for X tons, which was near 81% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Oman (X tons), constituting a 15% share of total exports. Saudi Arabia (X tons) took a minor share of total exports.

The United Arab Emirates experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of x-ray generators. At the same time, Oman (+56.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Oman emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in GCC, with a CAGR of +56.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Saudi Arabia (-7.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Oman (+15 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates saw its share reduced by -2.7% and -11.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) remains the largest x-ray generator supplier in GCC, comprising 88% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Oman ($X), with a 6.8% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in the United Arab Emirates stood at +9.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Oman (+30.3% per year) and Saudi Arabia (-5.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, jumping by 27% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the export price increased by 158%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Saudi Arabia ($X per ton), while Oman ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United Arab Emirates (+8.4%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in GCC

In 2021, approx. X tons of x-ray generators were imported in GCC; reducing by -11.2% against 2020 figures. Overall, imports showed a drastic downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, x-ray generator imports amounted to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a slight slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The United Arab Emirates represented the main importer of x-ray generators in GCC, with the volume of imports recording X tons, which was approx. 59% of total imports in 2021. Saudi Arabia (X tons) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Oman (10%), Kuwait (10%) and Qatar (5.8%). Bahrain (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

The United Arab Emirates was also the fastest-growing in terms of the x-ray generators imports, with a CAGR of +8.5% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Oman (+7.0%), Kuwait (+5.4%) and Bahrain (+4.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Qatar (-6.5%) and Saudi Arabia (-22.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain increased by +42, +7, +6.3 and +2.3 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the United Arab Emirates ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported x-ray generators in GCC, comprising 62% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Kuwait ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Saudi Arabia, with a 7.7% share.

In the United Arab Emirates, x-ray generator imports expanded at an average annual rate of +11.7% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Kuwait (+6.2% per year) and Saudi Arabia (-21.2% per year).

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in GCC amounted to $X per ton, with an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +4.5%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Kuwait ($X per ton), while Qatar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
