In 2021, the German binocular market increased by 35% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, consumption recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Poland (X units), the Netherlands (X units) and the United States (X units) were the main destinations of binocular exports from Germany, with a combined 34% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Czech Republic, France, Switzerland, Spain, Austria, Italy, the UK, Belgium, Denmark and Serbia, which together accounted for a further 45%.

The average binocular export price stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 14% against the previous year. In general, export price indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +7.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Serbia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+23.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Germany
After two years of decline, purchases abroad of binoculars increased by 11% to X units in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 43%. Imports peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, binocular imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
In 2021, China (X units) constituted the largest supplier of binocular to Germany, with a 76% share of total imports. Moreover, binocular imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Poland (X units), more than tenfold. The Netherlands (X units) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 4.4% share.
