In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in the German borates market, when its value decreased by -14.1% to $X. Overall, consumption showed a slight downturn. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In general, imports continue to indicate a slight descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 42% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then shrank dramatically in the following year.

In value terms, borates imports shrank notably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a noticeable slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 35% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Turkey (X tons) constituted the largest borates supplier to Germany, accounting for a 76% share of total imports. Moreover, borates imports from Turkey exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the United States (X tons), sixfold.
