In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The exports peaked at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, other cereals exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 35%. The exports peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
The Netherlands (X tons) was the main destination for other cereals exports from Germany, accounting for a 83% share of total exports. Moreover, other cereals exports to the Netherlands exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Italy (X tons), more than tenfold. Austria (X tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 3.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume to the Netherlands totaled +2.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (-6.7% per year) and Austria (-6.1% per year).
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) remains the key foreign market for other cereals exports from Germany, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Italy ($X), with an 8.4% share of total exports. It was followed by Austria, with a 7.5% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value to the Netherlands amounted to +1.2%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Italy (-6.8% per year) and Austria (-0.4% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The average other cereals export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -14.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the average export price increased by 16%. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was France ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Austria (+6.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Germany
In 2021, the amount of other cerealses imported into Germany dropped markedly to X tons, reducing by -19.2% against the previous year. Overall, imports, however, posted a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 105%. Imports peaked at X tons in 2020, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, other cereals imports dropped slightly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 99%. Imports peaked at $X in 2020, and then declined modestly in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Poland (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of other cereals to Germany, accounting for a 87% share of total imports. Moreover, other cereals imports from Poland exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Czech Republic (X tons), more than tenfold. The third position in this ranking was held by Luxembourg (X tons), with a 1.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of volume from Poland amounted to +13.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Czech Republic (-0.1% per year) and Luxembourg (+24.9% per year).
In value terms, Poland ($X) constituted the largest supplier of other cereals to Germany, comprising 68% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($X), with a 3.6% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 3.3% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Poland amounted to +11.4%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: the Netherlands (+19.2% per year) and the Czech Republic (-1.6% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the average other cereals import price amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 24% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, saw a slight curtailment. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the price for the Czech Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
