In 2021, overseas purchases of cotton linters decreased by -57.3% to X tons, falling for the fourth consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 799%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X tons. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, cotton linters imports dropped dramatically to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a moderate increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 384%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In 2021, Belgium (X tons) constituted the largest supplier of cotton linters to Germany, with a 55% share of total imports. Moreover, cotton linters imports from Belgium exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, the Netherlands (X tons), threefold.
