Candied Fruit Market Size in Germany
In 2021, the German candied fruit market increased by 11% to $X, rising for the second consecutive year after seven years of decline. Overall, consumption, however, continues to indicate a pronounced decrease. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports decreased by -18.7% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when exports increased by 42% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, candied fruit exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Austria (X tons), Poland (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of candied fruit exports from Germany, with a combined 41% share of total exports. Slovakia, Denmark, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Italy, Switzerland, Thailand, Spain and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 52%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Thailand (with a CAGR of +116.7%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest markets for candied fruit exported from Germany were Austria ($X), France ($X) and Slovakia ($X), together accounting for 45% of total exports. Poland, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands, Thailand, Finland and Spain lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 44%.
In terms of the main countries of destination, Thailand, with a CAGR of +104.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average candied fruit export price stood at $X per ton in 2021, approximately mirroring the previous year. Overall, the export price showed a slight curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 17%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+5.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Germany
In 2021, purchases abroad of candied fruits increased by 6.2% to X tons for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year declining trend. Overall, imports, however, saw a slight setback. Imports peaked at X tons in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, candied fruit imports rose significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Imports peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

The Netherlands (X tons), Italy (X tons) and China (X tons) were the main suppliers of candied fruit imports to Germany, together accounting for 90% of total imports.
