In general, total exports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, capacitor exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports recorded prominent growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Exports by Country
Hungary (X tons), Romania (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of capacitor exports from Germany, with a combined 27% share of total exports. Italy, France, China, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Spain, Austria, the UK, Belgium and Finland lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 48%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Belgium (with a CAGR of +24.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the average capacitor export price amounted to $X per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average export price increased by 17%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Finland ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, overseas purchases of electrical capacitors were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. In general, total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, capacitor imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Japan (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the main suppliers of capacitor imports to Germany, with a combined 42% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Hungary, Belgium, the Czech Republic, South Korea, India, the Philippines, Brazil, Malaysia, Indonesia and France, which together accounted for a further 45%.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Philippines (with a CAGR of +61.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest capacitor suppliers to Germany were Japan ($X), China ($X) and the Netherlands ($X), with a combined 54% share of total imports. These countries were followed by South Korea, the Philippines, France, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Malaysia, Belgium, India, Brazil and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 32%.
The Philippines, with a CAGR of +48.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The average capacitor import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the average import price increased by 19%. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the price for Belgium ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by South Korea (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
