Fluorspar Market Size in Germany

In 2021, the German fluorspar market decreased by -7.7% to $X, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, consumption recorded a deep reduction. Over the period under review, the market attained the peak level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

Over the period under review, total exports indicated modest growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +75.7% against 2019 indices. France, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Slovakia, Turkey, Japan, Hungary and Luxembourg lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 48%.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the average export price increased by 20%. The export price peaked at $X per ton in 2020, and then contracted dramatically in the following year.

In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, fluorspar imports totaled $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports, however, showed a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 75% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

South Africa (X tons), Spain (X tons) and Canada (X tons) were the main suppliers of fluorspar imports to Germany, together comprising 62% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Netherlands, Vietnam, China, Luxembourg, the UK and Mexico, which together accounted for a further 32%.
