In 2021, the German frozen cuttlefishes market increased by 32% to $X for the first time since 2016, thus ending a four-year declining trend. In general, consumption, however, saw a significant curtailment. The Netherlands (X tons), Austria (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main destinations of frozen cuttlefishes exports from Germany, together comprising 44% of total exports. These countries were followed by Italy, France, Ireland, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Norway, Spain, Switzerland, Greece and Luxembourg, which together accounted for a further 50%.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by France (with a CAGR of -15.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline.

In value terms, the largest markets for frozen cuttlefishes exported from Germany were the Netherlands ($X), Italy ($X) and Poland ($X), together comprising 38% of total exports.
