Italy (X tons), Poland (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of ghee exports from Germany, with a combined 42% share of total exports. Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Denmark and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 45%.

In general, export price indicated a measured increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ghee export price increased by +49.0% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by 45% against the previous year. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to the Netherlands ($X per ton) and Italy ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Denmark ($X per ton) and Slovakia ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

Ghee imports into Germany reduced to X tons in 2022, with a decrease of -6.8% against 2021 figures. Overall, imports, however, showed a slight expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 28%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country
In 2022, the Netherlands (X tons) constituted the largest ghee supplier to Germany, with a 63% share of total imports. Moreover, ghee imports from the Netherlands exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Belgium (X tons), threefold. France (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a 6% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from the Netherlands stood at +2.1%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (-1.7% per year) and France (-0.6% per year).
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) constituted the largest supplier of ghee to Germany, comprising 64% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Belgium ($X), with a 23% share of total imports. It was followed by France, with a 5.2% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from the Netherlands totaled +7.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Belgium (+3.3% per year) and France (+2.8% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the average ghee import price amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 40% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.1% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, ghee import price increased by +65.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 51%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the countries with the highest prices were Ireland ($X per ton) and Belgium ($X per ton), while the price for Italy ($X per ton) and France ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.
