The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 47%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in the near future.
In value terms, crude glycerol exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, total exports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +104.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 68% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

The Netherlands (X tons), Denmark (X tons) and Belgium (X tons) were the main destinations of crude glycerol exports from Germany, together comprising 70% of total exports. Italy, China, Poland, Lithuania, Switzerland, Russia, Thailand, the Czech Republic, France and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 26%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +149.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X) emerged as the key foreign market for crude glycerol, glycerine waters and lyes exports from Germany, comprising 38% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Denmark ($X), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Belgium, with a 9.6% share.

Crude glycerol imports into Germany declined to X tons in 2021, waning by -15% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a noticeable reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when imports increased by 16%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, crude glycerol imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 47%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

The Netherlands (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and Poland (X tons) were the main suppliers of crude glycerol imports to Germany, together accounting for 58% of total imports. Austria, Hungary, France, the Czech Republic and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by the Czech Republic (with a CAGR of +26.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest crude glycerol suppliers to Germany were Belgium ($X), the Netherlands ($X) and Poland ($X), together accounting for 62% of total imports. France, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic and the UK lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 30%.
The Czech Republic, with a CAGR of +28.8%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average crude glycerol import price stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 55% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated noticeable growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, crude glycerol import price increased by +69.8% against 2019 indices. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
