The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +120.5% against 2013 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 28%. The exports peaked in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
In value terms, gypsum and anhydrite exports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, total exports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +125.7% against 2014 indices. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The Netherlands (X tons), Belgium (X tons) and France (X tons) were the main destinations of gypsum and anhydrite exports from Germany, together accounting for 55% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Belgium (with a CAGR of +12.9%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the Netherlands ($X), Belgium ($X) and France ($X) appeared to be the largest markets for gypsum and anhydrite exported from Germany worldwide, together accounting for 52% of total exports.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Denmark ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to Luxembourg ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Gypsum And Anhydrite Imports
Imports into Germany
In 2021, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of gypsum and anhydrite, when their volume decreased by -53.3% to X tons. In general, imports, however, saw buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 418% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, gypsum and anhydrite imports dropped notably to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 286%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then declined significantly in the following year.
Imports by Country
France (X tons), Austria (X tons) and the Czech Republic (X tons) were the main suppliers of gypsum and anhydrite imports to Germany, together accounting for 87% of total imports. Morocco and the Netherlands lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 9.2%.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by Morocco (with a CAGR of +151.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Austria ($X) constituted the largest supplier of gypsum and anhydrite to Germany, comprising 38% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Morocco ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a 15% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value from Austria totaled +50.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Morocco (+93.4% per year) and the Czech Republic (+64.3% per year).

In 2021, the average gypsum and anhydrite import price amounted to $X per ton, surging by 51% against the previous year. In general, import price indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 77% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Morocco ($X per ton), while the price for France ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
