Headphone Market Size in Germany

The German headphone market reduced remarkably to $X in 2022, waning by -51.9% against the previous year. In general, consumption continues to indicate a noticeable reduction. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then fell markedly in the following year.

As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then dropped sharply in the following year.

In value terms, headphone exports amounted to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a prominent expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 46%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

The Netherlands (X units), Italy (X units) and France (X units) were the main destinations of headphone exports from Germany, with a combined 28% share of total exports. Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Poland, the UK, Hungary, Spain, the Czech Republic, the United States and Sweden lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 49%.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Greece (with a CAGR of +46.9%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Overall, export price indicated a notable expansion from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were the Netherlands ($X per unit) and Austria ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to the UK ($X per unit) and Hungary ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

In 2022, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of headphones, when their volume decreased by -7.3% to X units. Overall, imports, however, showed a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 104%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, headphone imports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded prominent growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 48% against the previous year. Imports peaked at $X in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In 2022, China (X units) constituted the largest headphone supplier to Germany, accounting for a 67% share of total imports. Moreover, headphone imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Vietnam (X units), eightfold. The third position in this ranking was taken by the Netherlands (X units), with a 2.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +13.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+54.6% per year) and the Netherlands (+3.3% per year).

In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of headphones to Germany, comprising 67% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 7.9% share of total imports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 2.9% share.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value from China amounted to +13.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+53.7% per year) and the Netherlands (+2.7% per year).

The average headphone import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when the average import price increased by 56%. The import price peaked at $X per unit in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the highest price was recorded for prices from Vietnam ($X per unit) and Mexico ($X per unit), while the price for China ($X per unit) and the Netherlands ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (-0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
