In 2022, the German heat exchange unit market decreased by -19.9% to $X for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. Over the period under review, consumption, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X, and then shrank sharply in the following year.

In value terms, the largest markets for heat exchange unit exported from Germany were the United States ($X), China ($X) and Russia ($X), together accounting for 26% of total exports. These countries were followed by France, the Netherlands, Italy, India, Austria, Switzerland, Poland, the UK, Turkey and Slovakia, which together accounted for a further 39%.
Slovakia, with a CAGR of +5.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average heat exchange unit export price amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -6.1% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 22% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($X per unit), while the average price for exports to Slovakia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+5.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports into Germany
In 2022, approx. X units of heat exchange units were imported into Germany; surging by 1.6% on 2021 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.3% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 14% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, heat exchange unit imports rose rapidly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% from 2012 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 20%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

China (X units), Hungary (X units) and Italy (X units) were the main suppliers of heat exchange unit imports to Germany, together accounting for 33% of total imports. Sweden, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Poland, the Netherlands, India, Turkey, France and Austria lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 49%.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +16.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest heat exchange unit suppliers to Germany were China ($X), Italy ($X) and Hungary ($X), with a combined 27% share of total imports. Sweden, France, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Slovakia, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, Turkey and India lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 46%.
Denmark, with a CAGR of +13.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main suppliers over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average heat exchange unit import price stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 5.7% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.6%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 11%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($X per unit), while the price for India ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
